Crime Reduction Centre

About the National Centre for

Citizenship and the Law (NCCL)

For centuries on the site of the Galleries of Justice, at the Shire Hall in Nottingham citizens of the local community were locked up in prison, stripped of their civil liberties in the courtroom and sometimes lost their lives, on the gallows of the front the steps.  By learning about the past users of the Citizens' Zone will be stimulated to become informed, thoughtful and responsible citizens, aware of their rights and responsibilities, so that they can act in the present to change the future.
