What we do / Schools /
For Primary Schools

Activities for Key Stage 2 pupils are closely linked to the National Curriculum for History and Citizenship. As pupils take part in innovative learning at the Galleries of Justice Museum, they gain knowledge and understanding in other curriculum areas as well, such as English & Literacy. Pupils have an opportunity to explore citizenship issues from the past and understand their relevance to the present day.
Topics that KS2 pupils can explore include:
- The Victorians: Pupils can discover our mock Victorian slum 'Narrow Marsh', take part in a Reform School session, or act in one of our Victorian period mock trials
- The Tudors: Pupils can take part in a Tudor Pirate or Privateer mock trial
- World War 2: Pupils can see what it was like in a 1942 classroom lesson or act in an Evacuee mock trial.
- Recently created activities offer Year 3 & 4 pupils a courtroom introduction through trials of familiar faces such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears or Alice in Wonderland.
For more information on our primary activities, download our Primary Schools leaflet below or contact Pollie Shorthouse, Learning and Access Manager (Schools). To book activities, visit our Plan section.
Through funding from Learning Links, we recently created an Early Years programme with the help of Sneinton C of E Primary School. Check out our regional projects section to find out more or contact Neepa Patel.
We also currently have a specially funded school programme for Year 5s that we are running at Galleries of Justice Museum: Young Citizens. For more information go to the regional projects section.
