NCCL: What We Do

Moving Minds Projects

NCCL worked as a partner museum with the Imperial War Museum North on the last two Moving Minds Projects 5 and 6. These aimed to inspire young people by using museum collections and new ways of learning, and made connections between regional and national museums.

Moving Minds 5 explored themes of self and group identity by talking to veterans. The Nottingham group focused on the topics of crime, justice and identity which link closely to the Galleries of Justice Museum. The young people interviewed different criminal justice agencies and the public and asked questions about the justice system, young people and crime. The interviews were then edited and placed online at www.radiowaves.co.uk/n/MovingMinds.

Moving Minds 6 introduced young people to cultural leadership and encouraged them to look differently at museums. An exhibition was then produced at the Galleries of Justice based on the themes of identity, personal choice and justice.
