Past Actions Future Consequences

This NCCL project ran over two years and encouraged young people to be more involved in museums. We began by working with three young offenders from the Nottingham Young Offenders Team and interviewed them about the law, offending, the Police and prison.
We then used their interviews and ideas to create a one-day programme of activities aimed at 11 to 13-year olds who are at risk of offending. We trialled the day with four Nottingham city schools and the resources are now available as part of the Galleries of Justice Museum programmes provided by NCCL to schools and colleges.
The second project phase connected with young people who were disaffected at school. We worked with sixteen Year 9 boys from Haywood School to produce boxes of artefacts, objects and teaching materials to be taken into schools. The boxes are now available to schools throughout Nottinghamshire through the Nottingham City Museums’ loan service.
