NCCL: What We Do

Their Past Your Future 2

NCCL Their Past Your Future 2 Project uses collections and resources in exciting new ways to increase community learning. Our Project focuses on young people’s knowledge and understanding of the significance of conflict and its relationship to citizenship.

We are working with Hempshill Hall Primary School Student Council in Bulwell, Nottingham who are interviewing members of the local community who experienced WWII. These interviews are being edited by the Student Council and made into an audio visual resource using images from local archives and the Imperial War Museum. The resources will then go into the WWII experience at the Galleries of Justice Museum.

For the second part of the project, the Student Council will ask people in Bulwell the question, ‘What does it mean to be a citizen in the UK today?’ From these interviews, a new Student Council from September 2009 will create a touring exhibition to visit sites in Bulwell.

Funded by the MLA and Big Lottery.
