ARC: Why Guns and Knives?

Actively Reducing Crime (ARC) is a specially designed resource pack produced by NCCL for schools. It's been created to help raise young people's awareness of crime and encourage them to help reduce crime in their community. NCCL's ARC: Why Guns and Knives? Project adapts the original resource pack and focuses on the impact and consequences of gun and knife crime.

NCCL have been working with two London schools, the John Paul II secondary School and the Gatton Primary School both in Wandsworth, who piloted these new resources in 2009.

Through ARC: Why Guns and Knives? the young people involved produced a crime audit of their local area to gain an understanding of guns and knife crime. From their audit, the young people then had a £1,000 ARC grant to design and deliver a targeted crime prevention campaign based on key messages.

The project was created in association with the Nottingham Piece by Piece resources which focused on Gun and Knife Crime.

We are keen to hear from other schools and groups in London who are interested in our ARC: Why Guns and Knives? programme. For more information about how you can get involved, please contact us.
