NCCL: Who We Are

Who we are /

Our mission

Welcome to the National Centre for Citizenship and the Law (NCCL). We are a national educational charity working with young people across the UK.

NCCL works with young people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire from our base in the Shire Hall and in partnership with our sister organisation, the Galleries of Justice Museum. We also work nationally with our programmes being planned and delivered in London and other key cities.

Our mission is to provide resources to help develop young people’s understanding of the law, and prevent and reduce crime through early intervention and preventative education.

We define citizenship as:

  • Improving young people’s understanding of their rights and responsibilities as citizens
  • Engaging young people in an understanding of the legal and criminal justice systems
  • Empowering young people as active citizens in their communities

We work with a wide range of partners and stakeholders to develop and deliver our work. To find out more, please contact us.
