Nottingham

Galleries of Justice Museum and City of Caves

NCCL is based at the Galleries of Justice Museum in Nottingham. Through our education programmes we aim to:

  • Increase understanding of the justice system
  • Raise pupils’ aspirations by developing an understanding of careers in the justice system and how they can be accessed
  • Develop an appreciation of the value of our shared heritage and its importance today
  • Foster an enjoyment of learning outside of the classroom
  • Empower young people through an understanding of their role as active citizens and how they can contribute to a fairer society
  • Provide effective and inspiring educational activities that meet the needs of teachers and educational professionals

We recommend that schools book a minimum of two months in advance where possible to secure preferred dates. We can take bookings up to a year in advance but due to demand we may not be able to accommodate your first choice, please be aware of this when requesting a visit.

Important notice about museum capital redevelopment work and changes to activities: From 20th February 2017 to the 31st March 2017 parts of the Galleries of Justice Museum will be closed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. The Museum has been awarded almost £1 million by the Heritage Lottery Fund to enable it to embark on an exciting redevelopment project. We will be offering limited alternative educational activities for schools already booked during this time. The City of Caves will be open for school visits as usual. The museum will relaunch on 1st April 2017 as the National Justice Museum, and our brand new education programme is also available from April 2017.

Prices for educational activities:

Half day: £9 per pupil

Full day: £10 per pupil

Prices are valid for any bookings made before April 1st 2017. Book now to secure current rates.
