Help A Nottinghamshire Child

Help A Nottinghamshire Child

Is an annual campaign to raise funds from statutory agencies, businesses and individuals in order to provide crime prevention activities for Nottinghamshire children.

We believe that children and young people deserve the best chances in life and should have the opportunity to participate in early intervention learning activities, which they may not normally have access to due to financial barriers.

The Help a Nottinghamshire Child (HNC) early intervention programme aims to keep kids away from crime and out of prison. It is delivered by the NCCL at the Galleries of Justice Museum. It helps to teach young people across Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire about the law, how to live within it and the consequences of breaking the law, including the impact on the perpetrator, victim and community.

£15 provides an unforgettable experience for one young person to learn about the law and change their perceptions of the law and attitude to crime.

£450 provides one class of 30 pupils to learn about the law

Our historic building:

  • Is the perfect context in which to deliver our programmes and activities and allows learning to take place within the courtrooms, police station and prison of the Galleries of Justice Museum
  • Is the home of our NCCL team who facilitate these projects

To enable us to:

  • Teach our children about crime prevention from an early age
  • Teach the guardians of our children to be responsible and supportive

So that our children can:

  • Learn about the law and how to live within it
  • Learn the skills to become good citizens

And we can…

  • Build a sense of civic pride within the children of the county and their families
  • Build safer communities and a safer environment for our children

‘Teach your children well

Give them a code that they can live by’ Graham Nash

Pupils take part in Courtroom workshops, debates and mock trials to encourage them to learn about the law, how to live within it and how to become good citizens.
